Indonesia recorded a 70.87% increase in completed intellectual property (IP) applications – a total of 123,933 cases and a major leap from 72,530 during the same period in 2024. This surge was driven by significant growth in trademark and copyright completions.
Completed trademark applications alone rose by 129.86%, increasing from 31,791 to 73,074. Copyright registrations via the Ministry’s POP HC platform climbed by 27%, reaching 43,491. Industrial design applications also showed steady long-term growth, with domestic filings reflecting an average annual growth rate of 23% between 2020 and 2024.
In total, 88,893 new applications were submitted in Q1 2025 — up 15.29% year-on-year — covering a wide range of IP categories, including trademarks, patents, geographical indications, and trade secrets.
Minister Bapak Supratman Andi Agtas attributed this success to the Ministry’s ongoing digital developments, which have improved both access to and the efficiency of IP services. We join in applauding the Ministry’s efforts and acheivements.
