Highlights of the 2026 INTA Annual Meeting
SKC Law attended the 2026 Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA) in London from 2 to 6 May 2026. The firm was represented by Co-Founders Purnomo Suryomurcito and Andrew Conduit.
The event took place at ExCeL London and brought together nearly 10,000 IP professionals, brand owners, policymakers, and service providers from more than 140 jurisdictions. INTA’s Annual Meeting is the largest global gathering of trademark professionals.
Key Themes at INTA 2026
The 2026 programme was organised across three educational tracks: Law and Policy, Technology Shaping the Future of IP, and the Business of Intangibles. More than 50 sessions covered topics including AI and intellectual property, anti-counterfeiting and enforcement strategy, non-traditional marks, geographical indications, and cross-border brand protection.
Several themes were directly relevant to rights holders operating in or entering the Indonesian market.
AI and trademark practice. Dedicated sessions addressed the impact of artificial intelligence on trademark filing, examination, and enforcement. Indonesia’s Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) has been modernising its digital infrastructure, and the broader global conversation on AI in IP administration has practical implications for how trademarks are searched, examined, and monitored in Indonesia.

Anti-counterfeiting and enforcement. INTA’s programme included sessions on enforcement coordination across platforms, supply chains, and borders. Indonesia’s enforcement framework has been strengthened through recent legislative reform, including the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) and Regulation 5/2026 on trademark registration, both of which have implications for how brand owners structure their enforcement strategies in the country.

Cross-border brand protection. Sessions on developing and managing IP in high-growth markets were particularly relevant for foreign rights holders entering or expanding in Indonesia.
INTA’s Anti-Counterfeiting Committee
SKC Law serves on INTA’s Anticounterfeiting Committee for the 2026–2027 term. The Committee develops and advocates INTA’s policy on anticounterfeiting and enforcement issues. Its work includes monitoring developments in treaties, legislation, regulations, and enforcement mechanisms worldwide, and completing research and analyses to propose policy recommendations to the INTA Board of Directors.
The Committee also produces reports and submissions, develops resources for practitioners and rights holders, and engages with anticounterfeiting stakeholders and organisations in coordination with other INTA committees and staff.
Our committee role provides SKC Law with direct insight into global anticounterfeiting policy developments and enables the firm to contribute an Indonesian enforcement perspective to INTA’s advocacy work.
Networking and Business Development
The INTA Annual Meeting offered structured networking formats including Table Topics, speed networking sessions, business development excursions, and dedicated meeting suites. SKC Law welcomed the opportunity to meet clients, contacts, and colleagues at INTA 2026.
